I am on a mission to educate, inspire women to overcome health challenges (even if it seems impossible!) and step into the life of their dreams
Strength training isn’t just about building a bikini body.
When I began lifting weights, I was focussed only on physical goals, but it wasn’t long after starting that I realised how diverse the benefits really are!
Curves, improved body composition and muscle tone are all amazing ‘side effects’ but what about how your confidence improves with muscle and nervous system adaptations regardless of body composition changes. What about the improvements to health in mobility, posture, circulation, bone density, immunity and mentality?
Becoming a stronger woman physically helps you become a more powerful woman internally and over time it teaches you that you can do anything you set your mind to.
You don’t have to be an athlete to begin weight training, you just need to be committed to the idea of becoming a stronger, healthier and more powerful version of you
Because, if you’re focussed purely on how you body physically changes, you might think you’re going nowhere when in actual fact, many deeper adaptations are occurring – those which will support you in ageing, building healthy hormones, and maintaining brain health as you age.
Building muscle also aids you to break down carbohydrates more effectively, as the body knows how to store them and use them well. This means, less insulin resistance. You’re also maintaining a healthy hormonal profile, which is critical to healthy ageing.
So try not to limit your attachment to strength training to simply ‘bikini body’, as there is so much more to it than that, and you just might miss out on all it has to offer.
