I am on a mission to educate, inspire women to overcome health challenges (even if it seems impossible!) and step into the life of their dreams
Kindness towards oneself is the next thing you want to harness if you are to live a wholesome life. We are quick to come down hard on ourselves, blaming ourselves for our mistakes and inability to achieve our goals. Thus, self-compassion is key to health and wellbeing, on all fronts, and, its essential if you wish to balance your energy.
If we knew better, we would do better, and we are all doing the best we can with what we have.
If you want to know better, you need to self–educate. If you want to do better, you need to make the choice to grab that knowledge and turn it into action. You want to be the person who does what she needs to do to make her dreams come true.
So we want less judgement, anger, resentment and hostility towards ourselves, and more self-compassion, where we are ok with the fact that we are not perfect.
All change involves forwards and backward steps and this is unavoidable. As we fall back into our old programming, or we become distracted from our goals, we do fall back a step or two. Sometimes we really throw it away and become so self-destructive that we take 5 or even 6 steps back.
This is where self-compassion steps in. If you want to balance your energy, you need to cultivate this.
What makes us spiral so far back is the judgement we cast on ourselves which just drives us deeper into our dysfunction. Attacking ourselves for making a mistake is like screaming at a dog or cat for asking for more food. It’s a part of our earthly existence to fall backward. Our bodies love to feel safe, and whether we are healthy or not, it is believed that where you are right now is the safest possible place to be.
So self-sabotage is merely the body’s natural mechanism to fall back into safety. You can’t do any better than what you have been programmed to do.
Were you programmed by your caretakers to conquer life and live your dreams? I would suggest you probably weren’t. You are getting the programming to better yourself, which is admirable, no matter how many mistakes you make on the way!
So less judgement, more education and more compassion. You are a work in progress with the best intentions and a life no one needs to understand but you.
