You want to know something crazy? I never used to read. I was way too anxious and way too ‘busy’ to fit reading into my life. Once I decided to slow down, and began to read, my whole world exploded. If you have read anything of my story, or enjoy my posts and services, and want to dive a little deeper, below are my favourite books!
I discovered this gem only recently, it’s a mind-blowing account of how stress, and in particular hidden emotional stress, effects the body. This was the last piece of my healing puzzle and I absolutely love his work!
In 2014 while searching for answers to my health struggles, I came across a Ted talk by Lissa Rankin, titled ‘is there scientific proof we can heal ourselves?’. I immediately bought this book, and ended up completing her Whole Health Medicine Institute in 2016 along with other leading functional medicine practitioners
This is a very eye-opening account of the truth behind depression diagnosis, and natural remedies to support mental health, from a registered and practicing Psychiatrist who has turned her attention from medicating her clients, to curing them
This is a beautiful, easy-to-read spiritual book that highlights the importance of our thoughts and emotions, and how hiding from our true nature can effect our fulfilment in life.
I discovered this book in 2014, right after Lissa Rankin’s ‘Mind Over Medicine’ (above), which also explores the placebo effect and our potential for self-healing. I felt like this book spoke to my soul, so much so that i jumped on a flight to Seattle, USA to participate in one of his workshops!
A beautiful fable-style book jam-packed with conventional and spiritual wisdom. I love all Paulo Coelho’s books but this is the first of his I read, so it has a special place in my heart
I came across this book during my healing journey after I worked out there was a link between childhood trauma, chronic fatigue syndrome and mental health. There are many conditions covered in this book and its filled with expansive stories of patients who’s mental health has been healed via his methods
This one appeals to the creative in me, I love her concepts and how she has so much faith in everyones capacity to create! Recommend for any woman who is looking to reclaim her creativity, or any creative who is struggling with self-belief or trust that creative expression is essential for the soul
The second book of Dr. Joe’s that I read, outlining the methods he uses with his students to help them break free of negative habits, thoughts and behaviours that lead to negative health states. It’s impossible to express my obsession with his work so I’ll just leave you all to look him up and see for yourself!
Awesome science-based book on how reality is created through intention, frequency, and emotion. Intro is written by Joe Dispenza so what more can I say really
Around 10 years ago my chiropractor informed me that my health conditions could be being compounded by food. I didn’t quite believe him but when I went home I searched ‘mental health and food’, and ‘autoimmune conditions and food’, and this is one of four that came up. Thats right, only four! Oh how times have changed
Elizabeth Gilbert is a passionate writer and this was her break-through book, about how she left her marriage and life in NYC behind to ‘find herself’. Everyone believed she was crazy, but what she found was ultimately so much happiness, passion, and a love for life again. The movie is amazing too 😉
Joe Dispenza’s work transformed over the years, beginning with the science of healing and reality, and moving into a more ‘mystical’ space. This is his latest work, sharing the real-life stories from his students that have has crazy experiences, from healing disease, to receiving healing, to seeing mystical things. I think it’s obvious here that I don’t know how to explain this one.
I would say this is a pretty heavy read, but if you love philosophy and fairy tales, you may love it. It goes over old stories from different cultures, and the meaning of these stories is broken down by a psychologist in the style of Carl Jung, meaning, they go really deep into the meaning of life.
I love this book purely for the fact that its simple to read, and contains heaps of feminine wisdom. I found myself saying ‘YES’ over and over. If you feel like you’re here for something special, or you’re a little out of contact with your feminine side, try this book out
